Two different lost-key situations
Lost a key, but another one works
Tell GEM about the working key. A suitable replacement may be cut and programmed using the supported spare/replacement route.
Replacement with a working keyAll keys lost: no working key
GEM must assess the exact vehicle and security system before agreeing key generation or programming. Some vehicles or procedures are not supported.
Ask about your vehicleMobile support by arrangement
What to tell GEM before arranging work
Call or WhatsApp with your vehicle registration or make, model and year, your postcode, whether any key still works, and whether the vehicle uses a conventional ignition or push-button start. Tell us if the key is lost, damaged or present but not recognised.
For vehicle security, proof of vehicle ownership and customer identification are required before lost-key/all-keys-lost programming or key generation work. GEM will explain the requirements directly; do not send identity documents through the short website enquiry form.
All-keys-lost support is vehicle dependent. Key availability, the system involved and any existing faults affect whether mobile work is suitable and what can be quoted. Contact GEM first so availability and the practical next step can be confirmed.
Replacement keys and the wider vehicle system
A lost-key job can require a suitable cut blade, remote or smart key and electronic programming. It is not enough to assume that any blank or universal remote will work. GEM checks the key and system requirements before supplying or programming parts.
If a replacement key is not recognised or the vehicle still will not start, the cause may involve the immobiliser, ECU, BCM/BSI, steering lock, keyless module or related electronics. Key and immobiliser diagnostics can establish whether another fault needs attention.
Prices depend on the vehicle, key type, parts and work needed. We do not publish a universal all-keys-lost price or promise that every case can be completed on the day.

Questions about your car key
Can you help when every key is lost?
GEM can assess all-keys-lost work on supported vehicles. It depends on the exact vehicle/key system and parts. Proof of vehicle ownership and customer identification are required.
Is losing one key different if my other key works?
Yes. Tell GEM that another key is available; a supported spare/replacement route may be appropriate instead of all-keys-lost work.
Will every vehicle be supported?
No. Certain systems and procedures may need a different specialist or manufacturer route. GEM checks the details before agreeing work.
Can I arrange a mobile visit?
Suitable lost-key jobs are considered in Birmingham and selected surrounding West Midlands areas by arrangement, subject to the vehicle, location and availability.
