A brand-new module still needs to be correct for the vehicle. A used module is not universally reusable: it may need data transfer, an applicable reset or an authorised matching procedure, and some used units cannot be prepared for another vehicle at all.

We publish the scope we can substantiate. A software name or previous successful job does not establish support for every model, year, module or protected online function.

For Volkswagen Group, brand and account permissions are checked for the requested procedure. For Ford, the linked case documents a specific FDRS replacement result; a new enquiry still requires assessment.

In our Ford SID212EVO donor programming case, the original retained enough communication for Ford FDRS Programmable Module Installation. A compatible replacement was prepared on the bench and FDRS reported successful installation. This documents that programming stage, not universal Ford support or completion of every in-vehicle check.

The Audi J492 sport differential case records successful replacement-module preparation after bench communication was established. It does not establish a byte-for-byte clone or blanket access to protected manufacturer functions.

1. Send the details. Include the make, model, year, module identification, original/donor status, fault codes and previous work.
2. Confirm the route. GEM checks the procedure, compatibility, required access and whether the vehicle is needed. Further diagnostic information may be requested.
3. Agree the quotation and booking. There is no generic fixed-price OEM programming purchase on this page. Do not buy a donor, post modules or arrange a session until compatibility and the delivery route are confirmed.
4. Complete the agreed work and checks. Where supported, programming/coding and applicable setup are carried out. Remaining vehicle checks and any further diagnosis are explained.

Some replacement jobs involve protected manufacturer functions. Where relevant, GEM checks that the requested procedure is available and authorised and may require identification or proof of vehicle ownership. Provide these only through arrangements agreed with GEM; do not send manufacturer login credentials in the enquiry form.

Programming cannot be promised until the exact vehicle, control unit, manufacturer requirements and vehicle condition have been reviewed.

Can GEM program a brand-new module?

Potentially, depending on the manufacturer, exact module, vehicle and available procedures. Confirm the proposed part and required setup before purchase.

Can GEM program a used replacement module?

It varies. A used unit may need cloning, data transfer, an applicable reset or authorised matching, and some units cannot be reused. GEM checks both module identities and the intended procedure first.

Does the procedure require the complete vehicle?

Bench-compatible work can use the UK-wide postal service. If the complete vehicle must be connected, GEM checks remote programming through a suitably equipped garage or technician first. If that is unsuitable, selected local mobile/on-site work may be available by arrangement. Customer vehicle drop-off is not a standard service.

Can I post the module instead?

If the agreed route is suitable for cloning, data transfer or electronic repair by post, GEM can direct you to the UK-wide postal service. Posting a module is not a substitute for a procedure that requires the complete vehicle.

Does a communicating original mean it can be cloned?

No. Communication may help obtain useful information, but readable supported data, hardware compatibility and the available method still determine the route.

Can interrupted programming be recovered?

GEM can assess supported recovery enquiries. Supply the failure history and diagnostic findings. Recovery is not always possible and may depend on the module’s electronic condition and remaining data.

Is GEM an authorised dealer?

No. GEM is an independent automotive electronics specialist. Manufacturer/OEM systems are used where supported; that does not confer franchise or manufacturer-authorised repairer status.

How much does OEM programming cost?

The quote depends on the vehicle, module, required procedure and diagnosis. Submit the details first; the postal Shop prices should not be assumed to cover vehicle-based OEM programming.
