What the service cannot repair
Stored event data is only one possible part of an SRS problem. Deployed airbags and pretensioners, faulty sensors, wiring, connectors, occupancy systems, voltage issues and communication faults need separate diagnosis and repair. A reset does not guarantee that the warning light will disappear, and bench processing does not prove the complete system is fault-free.
Before removing or refitting an airbag ECU
Follow the vehicle manufacturer’s battery-disconnection and SRS safety procedures, including the specified waiting period. Use a suitably qualified technician. Send only the electronic module, not airbags, inflators or pretensioners. The vehicle must be correctly repaired and the required diagnostic checks completed before its safety system returns to service.
Do I need a donor Ford airbag ECU?
No donor is required for the crash data reset service. Send the original electronic SRS module only; a replacement-unit data transfer is a separate service.
