GEM’s body-control testing and repair service assesses the original BCM, BSI or UCH for supported internal hardware or data-related faults. It is intended for customers seeking an assessment of their existing unit rather than an automatic replacement.
Why a symptom description matters
Explain which functions are affected, whether the fault is intermittent, and what diagnostic information is available. The original module and its history are more useful for a targeted enquiry than sending several unrelated units without an agreed scope.
What happens if repair is not suitable?
Not every body-control module can be repaired. If the original is beyond the supported repair scope, cloning or data recovery may be considered separately where possible. A donor is not included in this repair product.
What to send for assessment
Send your faulty original BCM, BSI or UCH, a written description of the symptoms and relevant fault codes, your vehicle details and your order/contact information. No donor is required for an original-unit repair. Mention water, fire, corrosion or earlier repair damage before dispatch.
How the bench repair process works
GEM performs visual and supported bench assessment, investigates the reported module fault where possible, and carries out repair only within the agreed scope. The unit is then returned. Any additional parts or chargeable work are discussed and require your approval first.
How to arrange the postal service
- Use the product page to check the service scope and current ordering details. Send clear label photographs if compatibility is uncertain.
- Have your original module removed using the relevant manufacturer procedures by a suitably qualified person.
- Pack securely in anti-static protection and a strong padded box; protect the connectors. Include your order number, contact details, vehicle information and fault description.
- Confirm the delivery address and send the parcel using tracked postage. You arrange and pay for inbound delivery.
- GEM assesses the supplied unit and carries out the supported, agreed work. If the required procedure is unsuitable, further action is discussed first.
- The supplied module is returned using the applicable return-shipment service. Review return costs and available cover at checkout.
Ask for the current turnaround estimate before posting. Timing depends on module condition, support and workload; no fixed completion date or successful outcome is guaranteed.
The limits of postal testing
The complete vehicle is not available during a postal assessment. The service cannot verify external wiring, connected components or every in-vehicle operating condition. Vehicle diagnosis, removal/refitting, coding and calibration are excluded unless expressly agreed. A severely damaged or unsupported module may not be repairable.
UK-wide postal service: all cities, towns and rural areas
You can send a suitable module from anywhere in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. Customers in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff or Belfast use the same postal enquiry process as customers elsewhere in the UK. GEM is based in Birmingham; nationwide coverage means postal module work, not a claim of a local workshop or mobile visit in every city. Confirm compatibility and delivery details before dispatch.
Should I order repair or a replacement module?
This is a testing and supported repair service, not a replacement-unit sale. Check the current product description and pricing workflow, and describe the fault before committing to additional parts. If repair is unsuitable, a different route may require a separate quote.
Read the service terms and conditions alongside the product listing.
View the service and arrange your order
Check the current price, compatibility requirements and full service terms before ordering. This is work on customer-supplied electronics; the photographed module is not a replacement unit for sale.
